Introducing EX...

The central theme for the exhibition is the idea of “Payamino: a live(d) experience”. What kinds of ‘liveliness’ does the rainforest offer? Not only are tropical rainforest systems alive and highly biodiverse – but people also live in this environment and the EX… participants lived this experience too. Each conveys something about what aspect of the liveliness of the rainforest meant to them personally.
While every participant has a different viewpoint and their own aesthetic sensibility, each is committed to combining scientific conservation work with cultural sensitivity. The different uses made of visits to Payamino can be viewed within wider debates about the politics of conservation while EX… itself stems from larger ambitions: to cultivate sensitivity to people’s different starting points, based on mutual respect, and also to reflect on the complexity of people’s relationship to nature.
